Hello everybody,

I had produced a lot of code for fai in the last few weeks. Thanks to
Valentijn Sessink for help how to open a second terminal during
installation (with openvt) and thanks to Andrew Stribblehill who
discovered the feature to call a command inside a declaration in
package_config. (eg. "xserver-`xviddetect -q`").

A cvs repository is now availabe. Look at the home page, who to access
it. (http://www.informatik.uni-koeln.de/fai). DHCP support is included
in fai, but BOOTP is still the default. The file INSTALL has some
hints how to use DHCP. You can now access the install client during
installation via remote login using ssh. The default password is:
"fai".

After my vacation, I will start to write a usefull documentation
if there a no major bug fixes to do. Any proposals what should be
discussed in the documentation are welcome.

These are the new things:

fai (1.2.0beta1) unstable; urgency=low

  * two virtual terminals available (press alt-F2 or alt-F3)

  * make-fai-nfsroot removes pcmcia-cs
    installs additionals packages: lvm raidtool2 ext2resize sshd dhcp-lient
    flag verbose controls output level
    nfsroot is created without any interaction
    base2_2.tgz is fetched via wget, if it's not found in /tmp

  * new start-stop-daemon script instead of symlink to fake it

  * configuration for kernel 2.2.17

  * start sshd during installation for remote access;
    add "sshd" to FAI_FLAGS to enable this
    remote reboot possible via: ssh -l root hostname faireboot

  * additional dhcp support available (bootp is still the default)

  * cvs repository available
