Ein Fork von pyExcelerator ist xlwt [1].
Da sind auch noch ein paar Beispiele [2] dabei, es bietet etwas einfachere
Formatierungsfunktionen.

Die Doku könnte insgesamt etwas besser sein...
Thomas hat ja ein Beispiel gepostet, ich könnte sonst auch noch etwas
