LVM not working.

I need help getting LVM to work.

I can’t get FAI to build a logical volume. I’ve tried building the disk config file myself and also the example file supplied with the FAI installation CD.
There are errors in the install log, but the installation does compete. When rebooting into the the new system, it never gets past dracut.
The OS is CentOS7. I’ve tried with auto sizing and fixed sized virtual disks

From the shell.log installation log: /run/lvm/lvmetad.socket connect failed: No such file or directory
WARNING: Failed to connect to lvmetad. Falling back to internal scanning

The above is repeated many times.

On reboot, there are a lot of messages that appear to be dmsg sorts of output and then:

sd 2:0:0:0 [sda] Attached SCI disk
floppy0: no floppy controllers found
work still pending

Where upon it hangs for a some time before
failing altogether and dropping into dracut emergency shell.

I’m assuming that the LVM utils aren’t getting started during installation and so everything else fails.
The LVM package is getting installed and the binaries are in place. Is one required to start the LVM processes from within a hook? I supposed that FAI would do this when is sees that an LVM is to be created.

I don’t where to go from here.

Thanks,
Ron
