Can't start from RAM disk image

Hello list,

Following the wiki installation walkthrough at
http://wiki.fai-project.org/wiki/Installation_walkthrough , using fai
version 4.2.1 (problem also existed with 4.0.8~deb7u1) on wheezy, I've
run into an interesting problem: Having set up everything for pxe boot
(dhcp-server, tftp, target machine bios), I first run

> fai-chboot -FIv joffrey

which generates this output:
>
> Booting kernel vmlinuz-3.2.0-4-686-pae
> append initrd=initrd.img-3.2.0-4-686-pae ip=dhcp
> FAI_FLAGS=verbose,sshd,createvt
>
> joffrey has 192.168.28.3 in hex C0A81C03

When I boot the target machine after that, it _should_ start fai but
then drop into a root at none prompt. What it instead does is to show these
two messages:

> Received 001a Kbyte, sorted 001a Kbyte, invoked primary bootstrap
>
> C6e: can't start from RAM disk image

Now, since fai doesn't actually start, there is no info in the log
files. I did also try to add the option ramdisk_size=262144 to the
"append initrd" line in /srv/tftp/fai/pxelinux.cfg/C0A81C03, sadly to no
effect. Since neither Google nor the wiki or the list archive have any
more info on the matter, I'd like to ask you guys.

What could be going wrong?

Best regards,
Daniel
