Hi everyone,
so far I've been unsuccessful in trying to get FAI
3.4.0ubuntu0~maverick1 from the Ubuntu PPA to work on Maverick Meerkat
Alpha3.

The NFSROOT could not be successfully built. The first issue is that apt
goes suicidal by trying to remove itself:

<snip>
The following packages have unmet dependencies:
  fai-nfsroot: Depends: live-initramfs which is a virtual package.
  perl: Depends: perl-base (= 5.10.1-12ubuntu2) but 5.10.1-14 is installed.
  aptitude: Depends: libapt-pkg-libc6.9-6-4.8 which is a virtual package.
  apt-utils: Depends: libapt-pkg-libc6.9-6-4.8 which is a virtual package.
  libept1: Depends: libapt-pkg-libc6.9-6-4.8 which is a virtual package.
The following actions will resolve these dependencies:

      Remove the following packages:
1)      apt-utils
2)      aptitude
3)      libept1
4)      tasksel
5)      tasksel-data

[...]

The following packages will be REMOVED:
  apt{u} apt-utils{a} aptitude{a} libept1{a} tasksel{a} tasksel-data{a}
0 packages upgraded, 0 newly installed, 6 to remove and 74 not upgraded.
Need to get 0B of archives. After unpacking 20.1MB will be freed.
The following ESSENTIAL packages will be REMOVED!
  apt
</snip>

The next issue is that the kernel doesn't get installed. Bummer so far :-(

See the full logfile at [1].

Cheers,
Robert
