looking for help to extract debian initrd image

hello everybody,
 i have some problem again,
 I tring to extract debian initrd image ,I create a folder in root dir
say temp and then run  command:

#gunzip</root/temp/initrd.img -2.6.22-3-486 |cpio --etract --preserve --verbose

 mow this command is  working  (something coming on my terminal and
not showing any error )  but i cant finding the folder where these
file going after extract , plz help me   .

Again hopeful that i will get best answer as always
