dpkg-divert: cannot open diversions: No such file or directory

Did that before as well. I compared to the server where it works and it 
had 0.3.3.3, so I manually upgraded that one package. With 0.3.3.2etch1 
the problem was exactly the same.

No.

Well, it lives inside a vserver (as in linux-vserver.org). But I can 
execute binaries there and I did a quick test with the s bit; works as well.
