Hi Michael,
here come the errors:
# debug=1 make-fai-nfsroot -v -c /etc/fai-etch/
Using configuration files from directory /etc/fai-etch/
Creating FAI nfsroot in /usr/lib/fai/nfsroot-etch.
It needs more than 250MB disk space.
This may take a long time.
/usr/lib/fai/nfsroot-etch already exists. Removing /usr/lib/fai/nfsroot-etch
Creating base system for etch using debootstrap.
Calling debootstrap etch /usr/lib/fai/nfsroot-etch http://ftp.debian.org/debian
/usr/sbin/debootstrap: line 3: finddebs_style: command not found
... seems to have nothing to do with FAI, really, but with debootstrap as mentioned by Henning in an erlier post.
Regards
Olaf

Please paste the errors here, otherwise it is pretty hard for most of us to help you.
PS.: I'd suggest running debug=1 make-fai-nfsroot -v -c CFDIR
