We thought about this too. We're testing changes to the configuration on 
  one of the target computers, then we're applying the changes to the 
fai repository and run fai softupdate on another computer that is the 
same classes to test it.
softupdate runs somewhere around midnight. We're not working at that 
time, so there shouldn't be any unfinished changes in fai config.

A small problem is that someone applies changes in teh config and 
someone else triggers an softupdate at that point, but this doesn't 
happen often and we sit in one room, so there is a high chance of 
noticing this.
