where does domain get set

Where does the DOMAIN variable get set during the install? Things
depending upon the $DOMAIN aren't working because for some reason it's
not set in our config/installation (like /etc/hostname, /etc/mailname,
etc).

I notice in the dmesg log, that it's blank:

IP-Config: Complete:
      device=eth0, addr=144.34.33.116, mask=255.255.255.0, gw=144.34.33.254, host=seagull, domain=, nis-domain=ncs.ahpcrc.org, bootserver=144.34.9.13, rootserver=144.34.9.13, rootpath=

...but I don't know where I'm supposed to set it. Am I supposed to be
setting it in the menu.lst on the boot floppy? Our current menu.lst
looks like this:

title FAI-INSTALL seagull (144.34.33.116)
kernel (fd0)/vmlinuz root=/dev/nfs nfsroot=144.34.9.13:/usr/lib/fai/nfsroot ip=1 44.34.33.116:144.34.9.13:144.34.33.254:255.255.255.0:seagull.ncs.ahpcrc.org:eth0 :off FAI_FLAGS=verbose,createvt,syslogd,reboot FAI_ACTION=install

Note: we're running fai 2.5.2 currently.

Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.
