It turns out that the install was not hanging, but had run it's course
as determined by FAI_ACTION. After I set this to 'install' for the
client hostname the install ran through. The error that I got
was returned by the routine called just before
faiend, leading me to believe that the procedure was hanging. There were
no log files in /home/fai/demohost/last* on the server, so I guess that this is
something to do with my rsh setup.
In spite of the message from faiend I was unable to get a shell with
ctrl-C.
I set FAI_ACTION for the client in /usr/local/share/fai/class/LAST.var.
Hopefully the orthodox spot to do this.
Thanks to everyone who emailed me.
