using FAI to maintain (as well as install) systems?

I am considering using cfengine2 on top of FAI for this purpose. The FAI
classes then become cfengine classes. Has anyone attempted this?

It would specifically be nice if you could use it to update installed packages.
The clients periodically (or when prodded by cfrun) run install_packages to find
out which packages should be installed, and then make sure they are.
