/fai/class not found

I'm just trying FAI for the first time on a debian testing box.  I'm
using a boot floppy with fixed IP and with the demohost example.  Upon
bootup, it appears to successfully mount /usr/local/share/fai (according
to the nfs server's logs) but then I get this message:

RPC: Portmapper failure - RPC: Unable to receive /fai/class not found.
Aborting.

I setup /etc/exports as follows:

/usr/local/share/fai (ro)
/usr/lib/fai/nfsroot (ro,no_root_squash)

What am I missing?  Thanks.
