help still needed for fai-bootcd...

Hi Niall, hi Rene, hi everybody,

I still have problems using fai-bootcd and did a little research on my
problems using fai-bootcd, they seem to be related to
gibraltar-bootsupport:

while booting up from fai-bootcd after successfull initrd setup, the
following Error-Message occurs:

----snip----------------

/linuxrc: /sbin/prepareroot: not fond

----snap----------------

followed by a few lines of errors which seem to depend on this error.

prepareroot is a script included only in gibraltar-bootsupport.
It is called by linuxrc which belongs to mkinitrd-cd.
The Installation of mkintrd-cd doesn't depend on gibraltar and
prepareroot isn't included in mkinitrd-cd.
So I do not understand how this script should be installed on the
fai-bootcd?

I tried to install gibraltar in the nfsroot using $NFSROOT_PACKAGES but
this ends with the error Mark Hedges described in his mailings on the
list (also see
http://www.mail-archive.com/linux-fai@rrz.uni-koeln.de/msg01221.html ).

Setting up gibraltar-bootsupport (0.19) ...
update-rc.d: warning /etc/init.d/mountvar doesn't exist. Terminating
dpkg: error processing gibraltar-bootsupport (--configure):
subprocess post-installation script returned error exit status 1
Errors were encountered while processing:
 gibraltar-bootsupport
E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1)

I fixed that by issuing "cp -avx /system/etc-static/* /etc/" inside the
nfsroot and reinstalling gibraltar-bootsupport, which didn't complain
anymore.

gibraltar-bootsupport in woody is v0.19 and seems to be broken (?): it
includes a directory "/system" in the root directory - which is not
normal. But, that's the same in gibraltar-bootsupport v0.27 !!?

The Inspection of the output of make-fai-bootcd does not show any
errors.

Do you have any hints on this?

Thanks in Advance

Thomas
