If your install server is running potato but you like to install woody
on the install clients you should start using this example of
fai.conf: http://www.informatik.uni-koeln.de/fai/download/fai.conf-woody

Get the newest version of FAI 2.3pre. You also need to install a new
version of makedev and debbootstrap on the install server running
woody. Therefore add these lines to /etc/apt/sources.list

# unstable sources
deb-src http://ftp.de.debian.org/debian unstable main contrib non-free
deb-src http://ftp.de.debian.org/debian-non-US unstable/non-US main contrib non-free
deb-src http://ftp.de.debian.org/debian dists/proposed-updates/

and then get the sources and create the packages

# apt-get source makedev debootstrap

and cd into these directories call fakeroot dpkg-buildpackage and then
install the created packages. The you can call fai-set after coping
fai.conf-woody to /etc/fai/fai.conf.

Additionaly you need to remove some packages in
/usr/local/share/fai/packages_config which are not available in woody.
My examples can be found at
http://www.informatik.uni-koeln.de/fai/download/developers/usr_local_share_fai-woody.tgz

Hope this helps
