My fault. The kernel package is in the mirror, but it's not listed in
fai-mirror.....log.

It's a dependency problem between linux-image-amd64 and
task-gnome-desktop. WHY?

I've debugged inside the /target chroot

# apt-get -o Debug::pkgProblemResolver=yes -s --fix-missing install task-gnome-desktop linux-image-amd64/buster-backports

Done
Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have
requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable
distribution that some required packages have not yet been created
or been moved out of Incoming.
The following information may help to resolve the situation:

The following packages have unmet dependencies:
linux-image-amd64 : Depends: linux-image-5.6.0-0.bpo.2-amd64 (= 5.6.14-2~bpo10+1) but it is not going to be installed
E: Unable to correct problems, you have held broken packages.

But this is too much to read and understand for today.

Next week I will try to change the package_config/BACKPORTS and
explicitly install
linux-image-5.6.0-0.bpo.2-amd64
or
linux-image-5.6.0-0.bpo.2-amd64-unsigned
instead of linux-image-amd64/$bpo

This helped in the past if there were some dependency problems.
