Hi Jan,
you have to use the newer kernel inside the nfsroot, so that the
client boots this new kernel. There's no need to change the kernel
from your install server itself.
If you are using the fai-project.org package repository in
/etc/fai/apt/sources.list, you can use these package names in
/etc/fai/NFSROOT:
linux-image-3.13-0.bpo.1-amd64
linux-image-3.12-0.bpo.1-amd64
Then rebuild the nfsroot and create a new pxelinux.cfg for your
install client.
