client hangs after eth0 becomes ready

Ethernet controller: Intel Corporation 82545EM Gigabit Ethernet 
Controller (Copper) (rev 01)
Ethernet controller: Intel Corporation 82557/8/9/0/1 Ethernet Pro 100 
(rev 10)

To boot I use the 82545EM card
