This should work with Debian / Ubuntu. My concern is SuSE. Especially
SLES10 - because of the filenames.

SLES 10 (Probably the same for OpenSuSE 10)
network config for eth0 -> /etc/sysconfig/network/ifcfg-eth-id-<mac-eth0>
network config for eth1 -> /etc/sysconfig/network/ifcfg-eth-id-<mac-eth1>
routing for eth0/eth1 -> /etc/sysconfig/network/routes

SLES 10 (Probably the same for OpenSuSE 11)
network config for eth0 -> /etc/sysconfig/network/ifcfg-eth0
network config for eth1 -> /etc/sysconfig/network/ifcfg-eth1
routing for eth0 -> /etc/sysconfig/network/ifroute-eth0
routing for eth1 -> /etc/sysconfig/network/ifroute-eth1
