GRML-Kernel, make-nfs-root and initrd

I've followed the given guide to add the grml-kernel into th FAI-nfsroot.

Works fine but I have a simple question:

Isn't it possible to let the initrd be created by the postinst-script
from the kernel-package without using the hook-script?
