Ubuntu 7.10 - "live/filesystem.dir" and "read only filesystem"

That would seem pretty strange, rather like a kernel bug. As this may be some
very Ubuntu-specific issue, I've already asked some people on IRC to draw their
attention to this thread. It might also be helpful if you join us on IRC (#fai
