SSH to install client does not work

In the syslog.log file of the installed client I see
syslog.log:Jun 14 11:06:23 spring sshd[1253]: Server listening on :: 
port 22.

Do you see that?

By the way, do you have physical access to the machine?  If so, you 
could log in on the console and check things out :)
