Richt description found in
http://archives.free.net.ph/message/20051208.164812.d580c310.en.html
fits my symptoms here - didn't find it before when searching because the
word "warning" from the error message is nowhere in the mail :)

In my case, the important difference between the machines is that one
uses a stock debian kernel for amd instead of the standard intel one.
The amd machine doesn't have the problem.

And yes, FAI 2.9 defines v3 in the file
in /boot/fai/pxelinux.cfg/C0A80084 for the host in question - after
changing it to v2 it seems to work. Where's the best place to change
that? Do I always need to do that manually after each fai-chboot run?
(which I use often when doing testing and devlopment work)
