Final update for now:
I downloaded kernel sources and configs for 2.4.27 from unstable
(something I don't like at all ;-), and likewise the patches
(kernel-patch-{debian-2.4.27,2.4-i2c,2.4-lm-sensors}).
First I tried to (re-)build a "pristine" 2.4.27 (of the Debian flavour,
of course), which booted fine. Thereafter, I ran make-kpkg with
PATCH_THE_KERNEL set to YES, including all the patches... works too.
(Now I have to find out what went wrong before...)
Next step might be web100 (which isn't available as a Debian patch, and
doesn't patch cleanly over an already patched kernel, still
investigating)...
I'll keep running my logs, so expect a summary next week :-)
Apologies for flooding this list with cries for help,
Cheers,
Steffen
