using devfs in the install kernels would solve all thes problems, but

1) this solves the device problem (of cause you have to compile also the
   installed kernels with devfs support)
   
2) Enumeration of all harddisks would be as simple as "ls /dev/discs",
   what should enumerate both ide and scsi disks.

3) in nfsroot, something like "detect" should be used to probe scsi and
   other controllers, so /dev/discs is representative...


point 1 and 3 work already here (physics department of free university
of berlin), point2 has to be implemented into subroutines-linux...
