Finally I hope to have some good news: As of 4.0~beta2+experimental27 the use of
entire disks in RAID volumes should work; and giving an empty disk_config, as
you tried as well, should result in a proper error message.

That helped a lot in debugging; could you please give the version mentioned
above another try? In case it fails again, would you please send another debug
log?
