Well, this is complicated. It's probably been broken for a long time,
which means it wasn't really used. Can we declare a non-working but
barely used feature as a RC bug?

Sure. Let's get 3.4.2 in first and foremost. Though having this fix
would be nice, and I don't think the RT would object.
