Interesting questions...

Your answers make sense, but I guess I need to be led there? As I
tried to understand FAI, some of my previous questions were:

Typical for laptop: eth0/DVD/USB to build an OS, but wlan0 for
softupdate?

Recommendation: Build the OS in minutes on a VLAN with a
custom DHCP then exist for years on LAN & Internet with
multiple generic DHCPs?

Design for FAI: Output NFSROOT=/srv... & Input =IP/srv in
one file -- faiserver:/etc/fai/nfsroot.conf a dual-use file?

Design for FAI: Input FAI_CONFIG_SRC in .../fai.conf but
input/output NFSROOT in .../nfsroot.conf?

Has there been consideration for fai & faid similar to ssh
& sshd? Such client-server separation might simplify
variable assignments?

Has there been consideration for building the install kernel
from the .../config/ database to permit /etc/fai/NFSROOT move to
class=INSTALLK?

Will senility precede IPv6? (humor)

These kinds of questions have answers, some I already know, but are
not considered appropriate to ask. After all, my job is to
understand how FAI is to be used as-is in todays world. If we met
at Oktoberfest over a beer I might explore similar lines of
questions, but not as a casual user.

Wishes? Publish documentation in step with the FAI Rev release date
-- perhaps even earlier at the unstable stage, prior to completion
of testing.

From time to time, I've wondered how I might contribute to FAI but
thus far have no answer.

Cheers
