                                    des Horror-genres. An diesem Abend
                                    hält sie den einführenden Vortrag
                                    zur neuen Programmachse der

                                    Sie ist Autorin verschiedener

                                    Monografien, darunter zuletzt The
                                    Hawthorn Archive: Letters from the
                                    Utopian Margins (2017) und Ghostly
                                    Matters: Haunting and the
                                    Sociological Imagination (2. Aufl.
                                    2008). Im Rahmen der dOCUMENTA 13
                                    entwickelte sie in der Reihe 100
                                    Notes, 100 Thoughts gemeinsam mit
                                    der Künstlerin Ines Schaber die

                                    The wondrous archive, over which
                                    AVERY F. GORDON presides and which
                                    she describes in her latest book The
                                    Hawthorn Archive: Letters from the
                                    Utopian Margins (2017), is not an
                                    archive in the usual sense, but
                                    rather a haven for all who fight
                                    against slavery, racism,
                                    exploitation, and authoritarian
                                    rule. Gordon, a professor of
                                    sociology at the University of
                                    California, Santa Barbara, describes
                                    state terror using the vocabulary of
                                    the horror genre. This evening she
                                    delivers the introductory lecture of
                                    the Academy’s new program axis
                                    found:erased:palimpsest.<br class="">

                                    AVERY F. GORDON is a professor of

                                      zwei Hunden lebt. Unmoralische
                                      Verhältnisse, nicht nur nach
                                      sozialistischen Maßstäben. Später
                                      ist die Mauer weg, Luise Brand
                                      tot, die DDR gescheitert. Das Haus
                                      aber lebt. Die Schauspielerin
                                      SUSANNE SACHSSE macht aus der
                                      Geschichte ihrer Großmutter eine
                                      spukhafte Konzert-Performance mit
                                      der Band XIU XIU und erschafft so
                                      ein glamouröses, mysteri-öses
                                      Memorial: sexy, queer, dark!<br

                                      The true story of Luise Brand: in
                                      a village in Thuringia in the
                                      early 1960s, she built a house
                                      where she lived with her husband
                                      and her lover, her two daugh-ters
                                      and two dogs. Immoral
                                      circumstances, not only according
                                      to socialist standards. Later the
                                      wall fell, Luise Brand died, and
                                      the GDR failed. But the house
                                      still lives on. Out of her
                                      grandmother’s story, and with help
                                      from the band XIU XIU, the actor
                                      SUSANNE SACHSSE creates an eerie
                                      concert / per-formance and with it
                                      a glamorous, mysterious memorial:
