interkulturelle
Forschungs- und Ausstellungsprojekt „Mass Observation 2.0.:
Research Into The
Everyday“ beginnt im Wintersemester 2015 und bringt
Student*innen der
Fachrichtungen Design, Kunst, Musik, Sozialwissenschaften,
Literatur und
Erziehungswissenschaften aus Köln und New York zusammen. Ziel
ist es, ebenso
theoretisch wie praktisch, analytisch wie investigativ,
kritisch wie
experimentell, online und offline Alltag als Phänomen zu
untersuchen, das seit
der Moderne maßgeblich unser Weltverstehen bestimmt und unter
dem Einfluss
neuer Technologien sich stetig verändernde Kommunikations- und
Beziehungsformen
hervorbringt.</p>

none;text-autospace:none">Ausgehend von einer Untersuchung des
historischen
Sozialforschungsprojekts „Mass Observations“ von 1937, mit dem
britische
Anthropolog*innen, Sozialwissenschaftler*innen und
Psycholog*innen auf den
Umstand reagierten, dass das Alltagsleben und -empfinden
durchschnittlicher
Büger*innen („common people“) weder in den Medien noch im
politischen System
Großbritanniens repräsentiert waren, soll der Fragestellung
nachgegangen werden,
wie Alltag in einer globalisierten Kultur empfunden und welche
Auswirkungen die
in sozialen Medien allgegenwärtigen Vernetzungs- und
Selbstperformanceimperative auf unser tägliches Erleben haben.
Wie gestaltet
sich der urbane Lebensraum unter den Bedingungen des
Digitalen? Inwiefern wird
das westliche Demokratieverständnis durch die neuen Medien und
deren
Partizipationsangebote verändert?</p>

none;text-autospace:none">Unter der Leitung von Prof. Karina
Nimmerfall
(Institut für Kunst und Kunsttheorie/Intermedia) und Prof.
Selena Kimball (The
New School Parsons, School of Art, Media and Technology) wird
zeitgleich ein
Seminar in Köln und New York stattfinden, das im Team und
mithilfe von
Online-Konferenztools und digitalen Lernplattformen
durchgeführt wird.
Ausgehend von Beobachtungen des alltäglichen Lebens
erarbeiten die Studierenden beider Institute ein
(Online-)archiv, das als
Grundlage für individuell zu vertiefende Projekte dienen wird.
Sowohl die in
dem Archiv gesammelten Rechercheergebnisse als auch die von
den Studierenden
daraus erarbeiteten Projekte werden in einem
interdisziplinären Studierendensymposium präsentiert, das im
Dezember 2016 in der New School, Parsons, School of Art, Media
and Technology und im März 2017 in Köln stattfinden wird.</p>

liefert so einen Beitrag zu dem derzeit nicht zuletzt im
universitären Kontext
viel diskutierten Feld der künstlerischen Forschung, der über
die Frage nach
dem Verhältnis von Kunst und Wissenschaft hinaus das
Zusammenspiel von
digitalen und physischen Lernräumen, internationale
Kollaborationen und
prozessorientierte Semesterarbeit für eine
disziplinüberschreitende Form der Wissensproduktion
konstruktiv
einsetzt.</p>
